Apache
As I run,
as I leap,
as I soar
I think some more,
but my worries are abandoned.
The hoofs pound the ground,
my heart beat in tune with the sound,
the wind across my face,
and a sea of tree leaves in my sight.
I might dream of a world in which I could be so free
and go riding whenever I like.
Releasing my stress and my strife
Embracing the challenge, the change, the steadfast reminders
Feeling the breeze by the stream, hearing the rustle of the trees
The endless reminders of days of old
As new beginnings begin to unfold
Let it be this joyous, triumphant sound
Unwinding, whittling, and loosening our bones
Engulfed in the spirit of saddles, cow boots, and riding caps
In hopes of wild, unabandoned moments, with splendor galore
Horses, what magnificent creatures they are.
And may this freedom be forevermore.
